For most of us our declared major is Public Relations. In this particular industry it is ultimately our responsibility to look and act the part. A PR professional should always maintain a professional image so that the clients you represent are sure that you are the perfect representative for their brand, company or organization. I thought this would be a good topic to discuss this week because most of us have a year or two until we are actually out in the real world pursuing our careers. What do you think is appropriate to wear to an interview in this profession? Don't have any idea? Well, I have provided a few examples of what to wear and what not to wear to an interview, what particular fashion pieces will help you look the part and land your dream job successfully.
What to wear:
Women: A pair of comfortable black heels and flats, a wrap dress, slacks, a pencil skirt, a blazer, a simple necklace, and a black or brown leather bag that fits your laptop.
Men: A pair of comfortable black or brown dress shoes, button down shirt, Blazer, tie/bow tie, cuff-links, slacks.
*Most appealing color to wear to an interview are hues of blues for both men and women*
What NOT to wear:
You always want to make a good impression when your seeking employment. These are just a few pictures of what not to wear to an interview.
Women: Never wear short dresses or skirts, plunging deep v-neck shirts, tight fitting jeans, pants etc that reveals a lot of skin, always keep it simple, clean and professional.
Men: Never arrive at an interview with sagging jeans below the waist, boots, explicit tees, or materialistic fashions. Although its nice to have those things, employers don't care how much money you have and if your rocking the latest Boss, Ralph Lauren, Solbiato etc. Show up casket sharp and ready to claim the job.
Hopefully this was helpful to all of us and Good Luck on your next interview!
